For more than three decades, I have had the privilege of representing individuals, families, and businesses throughout Rockland, Westchester and Orange Counties, New York City, and the surrounding communities. I began my legal career alongside my father, Martin Hurwitz, whose law practice was established in 1955. That experience provided me with a strong foundation in the values that define the practice of law: integrity, commitment, professionalism, and service to clients. While I am proud of that history, my own career has been built through more than 35 years of dedicated advocacy on behalf of individuals, families, and businesses throughout New York.
Over the course of my career, I have developed extensive experience both in and out of the courtroom. I understand that effective representation requires more than knowing the law, it requires preparation, strategy, and the ability to advocate effectively when a client’s rights and interests are at stake. Whether negotiating a favorable resolution, appearing before the Court, or aggressively litigating a contested matter, I approach every case with the preparation, attention to detail, and determination necessary to protect my clients.
My practice encompasses personal injury, residential and commercial real estate, foreclosure defense, landlord-tenant litigation, guardianships, elder law, estate planning, wills and trusts, probate and estate administration, commercial litigation, and business disputes. Regardless of the legal challenge, my goal remains the same: to protect my clients’ rights, interests, and future while providing the highest level of personal service.
I believe the foundation of effective legal representation begins with listening. Before developing a legal strategy, I take the time to understand my client’s concerns, priorities, and objectives. Every person and every legal matter is different, and each client deserves an approach tailored to their specific circumstances.
In addition to my private practice, I serve as a Court Examiner for guardianship matters in the Ninth Judicial District of the Supreme Court of the State of New York. This appointment reflects the confidence placed in my legal judgment, professionalism, and dedication to protecting the interests of individuals who require careful oversight and advocacy.

Peter A. Hurwitz earned his Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law in 1990 and was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 1991. He is admitted to practice before the New York State Courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Hurwitz is a member of the Rockland County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association, reflecting his continued commitment to professional excellence, ethical practice, and staying current with developments in the law.
